Theme part Three
Ceramics is a very interesting form of art. With the ability to mold clay possibilities are endless and can be immaculate. As a student who never really found interest in artwork or creativity I was able to explore both within a class I enjoyed.
Within a semester of ceramics I was able to make many projects. From bowls to vases to plates I made almost everything I could within my ability. I found a much larger interest in things I could use. All the projects made have a purpose to them. Within just one semester I made; 6 bowls, 3 vases, 3 plates, a planter, and a jar.
Clay can be formed to make things a lot of ways but what I used was the wheel. All the projects that are found within the semester of ceramics and my gallery all were pulled from the wheel. For most of my projects I used a lot of clay but by the end of the year I made two vases in which I tried to use less clay for a finer look. The way these projects turned out was great and they had a much lighter feel. I’m happy to have been able to explore the way pottery is made because I never had before.
What I wanted in my projects was purpose. My mind wants to find purpose in everything . So when given this opportunity I made purposeful items with a simplistic theme in mind. All my pieces of art are simplistic and are used. For example I made 6 bowls because all the time the bowls for my cereal would be in the washer machine, with that in mind I made a lot of bowls so I would never have a problem like this again. Many of my projects have been also used as gifts. Simplicity and purpose go hand in hand with my experience and I hope to start to move a way from this theme as I become more advanced.
Simplicity fits every piece of artwork I made and the theme fits what I strive for within everyday tool of items such as my bowls or my jar. With that in mind I hope to pull away from this and let my mind explore a different view where everything is more in depth and interesting. Lastly I would like to dedicate this year within ceramics too my Granddad John who died last fall and was also a high school art teacher and who loved all of his students very much.

Theme part one
This semester i have been working to get past the begginner stages and make my projects personal. My theme is simplicity. All projects my projects have a more functional approach to them. In life i look for a purpose in everything thing i do, with out a purpose i don't feel the need to have or make it. My pieces of art reflect this trait all pieces i have must have a use or I don't like them or won't keep them.
